A Family Project

There are so many projects that families can do together that would be fun and productive. One idea came to mind recently when I heard a radio ad for emergency food supply. I realized that if any emergency should arise that my family would not be prepared. Immediately, my husband and I ordered a one-year supply of food that would be stored in a special closet in our home. After that, I put a list of emergency tools and supplies together so that I could share it with the rest of the family. We set aside one day to gather all the supplies on the list. Since there were quite a few items on the list, we went the most affordable route and shopped at yard sales and thrift stores for many of the items. We found items like flashlights, extra sleeping bags, towels, mess kits, and pans at yard sales. Extra blankets, raincoats, flares, and other emergency items were purchased at several different thrift stores. Every family member had fun gathering the items and placing them in a container. This container would be stored right next to the food supply. Once every item was gathered and organized into one central location, the family was happy and confident that we would be well prepared for an emergency.
